CARPOOL INFORMATION

CYT North Idaho offers classes three times a year in a variety of theater arts, including drama, voice, dance, and specialty classes.

Each session includes the opportunity to audition for a fully staged musical production that is performed for the community.

Christian Youth Theater - North Idaho is a licensee of Christian Community Theater, located in San Diego, California.

Open Sesame Our Gang O100 (Ages 6 & 7)
Theater is “story on stage”. In “Open Sesame”, your child will be introduced to the concept and creation of “story” through activities, games, examples, sharing stories of
their own and authoring their own sketch! This age group is not eligible to audition for the
session production.

DRAMA 101 - D100 Core Drama (ages 8-18) - no prerequisite
This multi-faceted beginning drama class deals with the fundamentals of acting, staging, movement and interpretation. Learn how to use your senses and draw upon them to develop characters. Other areas covered may include improvisation, pantomime and reader’s theater.

DANCE 101 M100 Core Dance (ages 8-18) - no prerequisite
Learn the fundamentals of tap and jazz. Get ready to get up and move! This class will introduce the student to movement for theater. Basic jazz moves and beginning rhythm will be emphasized. Students will learn how to get through a dance call back, even if they aren’t seasoned dancers. Jazz and tap shoes beneficial but not mandatory.

SPECIALTY CLASSES TBA

PUPPETRY - S130 (ages 8-18) Prerequisite - I Core Class - either Drama, Voice, or Dance
Enter the fun and exciting world of puppets! Learn to manipulate hand puppets, both the rod
and human-hand types. Students will learn lip-sync skills, developing personality in a puppet, movement, and use of props. Students will prepare short skits and songs.

Christmas Chorale Tour Group- G290 (ages 12 - 18) Audition Required - Prerequisites - Core Drama and Core Voice
This class is designed to teach intermediate students how to sing independent harmonies and a capella music. Students will improve their sight reading skills, develop quality choral 4 and 5 part vocal music, and learn several Christmas season production numbers. Learn to blend intricate harmonies while performing in small groups.
(Extensive Audition will be held during the first class - no need to prepare an audition piece. As per our policy, no refunds given after a student auditions. Students who are not yet ready for this Tour Group will be enrolled in an alternate class. Teacher - Terri Grubbs

Audition for the Real World - A301 (ages 8-18) Prerequisite - 3 Core Classes: Drama, Voice, and Dance
