CARPOOL INFORMATION

CYT North Idaho offers classes three times a year in a variety of theater arts, including drama, voice, dance, and specialty classes.

Each session includes the opportunity to audition for a fully staged musical production that is performed for the community.

Christian Youth Theater - North Idaho is a licensee of Christian Community Theater, located in San Diego, California.

DRAMA 101 - D100 Core Drama (ages 8-18)
This multi-faceted beginning drama class deals with the fundamentals of acting, staging, movement and interpretation. Learn how to use your senses and draw upon them to develop characters. Other areas covered may include improvisation, pantomime and reader’s theater. Teacher - TBA

VOICE 101 - V100 Core Voice (ages 8-18)
This dynamic beginning voice class will cover all the elements of good singing techniques. Students will receive training in how to use their voices correctly and how to have a confident audition. Emphasis will be placed on proper breathing and support. This important class is for everyone who has ever wanted to sing correctly and well! Teacher - TBA

Stunt Acting and Stage Combat - S150 (ages 10-18) Prerequisite - I Core Class - either Drama, Voice, or Dance
This is going to be a knockout class! Learn the various methods of stage fighting (slaps, slugs, kicks, hair pulling, and choking). Also falls, rolls, tumbles, and reactions will be offered. Come have your hair pulled - - it won’t hurt to try!

Tappin' Toes - M220 (Instructor’s Approval)(ages 8 - 18) Audition Required - Prerequisites - Core Dance
Hear the beat of your dancing feet by learning to tap! Be prepared to learn all the basics from shuffles to time steps and everything in between. Class will focus on perfecting and improving technique and learning more complex steps and combinations.Upbeat music will have you moving to the beat!

Improv - D240 (ages 8-18) Prerequisites - Core Drama and One Other Core Class (Voice or Dance)
Beginning Improv! Rehearse without a script? Work a theater scene with no idea of what is coming next? Try Improv! This beginning level class teaches the skill of reacting to other actors in spontaneous, unrehearsed scenes using conflict, contrast, physical positions and props. You will also explore character traits and background in learning the importance of improvisation for developing acting skills.
This class is the prerequite for the competitive Improvathon Class that is offered in the Winter.
