CYT has impacted the nation
CYT-USA began in 1997 in Spokane and Chicago. Families who had moved outside the San Diego area desired to have CYT in their new hometowns, and contacted CYT in El Cajon for help. Together they developed the process by which CYT can be replicated in other communities. Today there are 13 CYT programs, in 13 different states, operating in over 30 different venues.

Each program is a 501(c)(3) educational, non-profit organization, headed by an Artistic Director and Managing Staff, and is overseen by its own Board of Directors. Each program is solely responsible for the welfare of its own program, with the constant support nearly 30 years of consistent children’s theater experience from CYT Headquarters in the San Diego area.
Licensed CYT programs are required to follow the CYT Model and policies. CYT Headquarters will monitor the culture and quality of the CYT program to maintain the integrity of both the Licensee and the National CYT organization. Licensed CYT programs have access to resources that make CYT the largest theater arts program for children in the nation. This includes manuals, curriculum, sample forms and documents, tried-and-true procedures, reference materials, staff training, website presence, discounted costume and sets rentals, staff training, and much more. In addition, the CYT National Director is on staff for the purpose of serving, training, advising and assisting the national programs as needed.
